John and I just came out of a concert when we realized we had not eaten since morning. After breakfast we had a fun-filled day of activity, realized it was getting late, zoomed to shower and change for the concert, and never thought of eating. For me, that is huge since I always want to sample something when in Las Vegas. We must have had a great day. But stepping out into the light and not so quiet of a casino, I realized my stomach was empty and making quite a few sounds.
Since it was late, we knew we didn’t want a huge meal. And, as usual, if given the choice I would much rather go to a place that serves small plates to share. That way I don’t feel the need to let out my pants, roll off my chair, and stumble drunkenly from food to my room.
Now was the question, where to go? We chose Stack Restaurant & Bar. Knowing nothing about the place, we went in with no expectations other than to get something into our tummies.
It was the best decision. We went to the bar and sat down. The bartender was great not only with her mixology but personality as well. She had John and I laughing every time she came over to see how we were doing. Even though it was late and the kitchen was about to close down, we were told to go ahead an order and she would rush it in.
We ordered the Mini Lamb Gyros, Pigs in a Blanket, and Kobe Chili Cheese Fries (which unfortunately they seem to no longer offer). The food came out in reasonable time and hot.
The Mini Lamb Gyros were delicious, and I usually don’t eat lamb when we go out. The gyros came with a nice cucumber yogurt sauce.
Pigs in a Blanket were good with a nice buttery, flakey, pastry dough wrapped around tiny little sausages. The barbeque sauce served on the side complemented the little “piggies”.
Kobe Chili Cheese Fries, which I haven’t seen on the menu since our last visit, and it’s a shame. It was a taste sensation with just the right quantity of Kobe to the amount of sauce. A heavenly balanced concoction with the spices they added to the mixture.
There are other places in Las Vegas to go for a great meal. However, when you find yourself starving late in the evening and want to sit down and enjoy a drink and a few appetizers, try Stack Restaurant & Bar at the Mirage. It is pricey but the staff and food make up for the prices.
