A while back I proudly posted that starting January, I would have a cooking video blog. As it is now March, we can see that did not happen. Not one video has made the grade for me to post. Oh, I have videos but none that I want someone to watch. I may be a kooky chef, but not that kooky.
I have a vision on the concept of the videos, but did not realize the many questions I needed to ask myself. Will I be seen on the videos or just show my hands in the cooking process? Will I talk in the video, have only music with written instructions, or a little of both? What is my style? These questions are just on the theme of the videos.
There is so much more to it than okay, I know my theme, style, and how to present myself. Awesome, but there is still homework to do such as; what cameras will I use? Microphones? Lighting and staging? Props? Do I have enough neighbors who will want to eat the overload of food since I need to do numerous takes? That question was easily answered when I made the hand held chicken pies. Not only did my neighborhood friends take all my food, they asked me to let them know when the next taping would be so they didn’t make plans for dinner. Love the enthusiasm for my food!
Okay, now we have the theme, equipment, and plenty of mouths to feed. Now what? Editing. What kind of editing software will I use? Where will my music come from? How long will the videos run? Oh boy, I need a crash course on video editing.
I researched all my questions. I also have taught myself a lot on production. Now let’s see if I can put this limited (very limited) knowledge to use. This time though I will not say when these fantastic, kooky, instructional videos will come out. Let’s just say, in the near future.
Until next time, happy creating.
