What do you do when you lose your passion for the very thing you started to build your life and career? Do you try to preserve and muddle through? Do you take time away and hope that your passion comes back? Or, do you look for other avenues to pursue?
Maybe, we should look at loss of passion like writers block and find ways to get out of the funk. Loss of passion stinks. There is probably a better way to say what loss of passion is, but I am in a funk and can’t think of anything better.
Things I have tried: retooling recipes; cooking John’s favorite meals; cooking for my son, Jack, and his fiancé, Bianca; and preparing treats for my family visit to Connecticut. I have also taken time away from the kitchen. I have had coffee with friends. Cooked a meal for those who needed to be blessed.
I still have the tools. Still have the know how. My food still tastes phenomenal. However, it takes sheer willpower to step in the kitchen.
Maybe my trip back East will be just what I need. I’m driving my way and getting behind the wheel has always been relaxing for me. Plus, I get to try different places to eat in different regions. What could be better than that to get the passion back. To watch those who love what they do. We shall see. Hopefully my loss of passion will be perked back up and I will come back in full swing.
Until next time, (hopefully) happy creating.
