When I first started Dina Dishes it was because I am a true foodie. I am an excellent cook. I grow my own vegetables. I love to try new restaurants. Anything to do with food and I am right there involved. I wanted an outlet to share my passion. This love of every of creating dishes though, quite frankly, has led me to go down many rabbit holes. I’m hopping here or there and not focusing on one particular part of the creating trail and hence, I fall into a rabbit hole.
After the death of my son Michael, I tended to be unfocused. I even blogged about the loss of passion for creating new dishes. Now that I have had time to reflect, I am really honed in on what I want to do as far as being a chef. And a renewed passion arose.
At first, when I got back to finishing the cookbook that I started when Michael was alive, I did it out of remembrance of him. He was so proud of my writing this book. He loved my creations and was a willing guinea pig. He, along with his brother, Jack, and with John, gave me room to explore different cuisines and avenues of the food world.
However, as I started the editing process, I realized that my passion wasn’t gone. It was just lying dormant for a while. I needed time to process the last year and a half. Then ideas started to swirl in my head on what I could do next. I felt the first creative stirrings and in doing so, realized I wanted to be more focused.
Coming soon Dina Dishes will have a new name and a new website. I will no longer do reviews of restaurants. I will mainly focus on the creation of recipes. I will have tips and videos so that you, my dear friends, can recreate what I make. They will be fun and I am sure, knowing my calamity Jane’ness, there will be tons of mishaps!
When everything is in place, I will let you all know. In the meantime, please continue to read Dina Dishes. I will blog some of the recipes coming up in my new cookbook, Dina’s Delicacies.
Until next time, happy creating!
