Late last year I was about half way through writing my cookbook. I had all the recipes for this adventure, but with all the latest taste testings and notes, I needed to retype my steps. Then, as you know my dear friends, my son suddenly passed away. My world fell apart, as well as my passion for cooking or finishing the cookbook.
Carol was Michael’s counselor, and she spoke on how Michael was so proud of me for writing the cookbook. How he spoke highly of us and often spoke about my writing. She knew I lost my passion and said I could write it in honor of him. She said to finish this cookbook might help with my loss of passion. My husband has always been my biggest advocate, and he had said the same thing. Oh, and we can’t forget Jack and Bianca, who love to come over to the house to taste test my newest creations.
With all that being said, I got back into the kitchen and on my computer to start finishing this cookbook. Maybe I can make this cookbook like no other cookbook. Not only to have recipes, but also to have Michael’s story and family comments spread through out the book. This cookbook will not only be about food. It will be about family, love, hope, and laughter.
Since I am a home cook, my feelings on niches are slightly different. Since I don’t just cook one cuisine or use one method I am incorporating my various styles. This way, if you are like me, you won’t get bored with my book. There is nothing worse than being uninspired in the kitchen and cooking the same thing all the time. I have a 100 recipes already updated and another 100 to go. Wish me luck.
Until next time, happy creating.
