I do shop on-line. It is convenient. However, I still like going to stores to browse through the things I need. The reason being, so I can pick out what is in great shape, no blemishes, no rips and not rotten. This goes for clothes, plants, and food. I know, some of you are already thinking, “Well, she could just send them back.” This is true, but I wouldn’t have to if I picked it out myself. Who knows me better than myself.
There is a new service to pick-up in grocery stores, and on-line food delivery right to your door. It is convenient, you don’t have to leave your house, and someone else is doing all the hard work for you.
My opinion on this new wave of ordering is even though there are some great companies out there, my concern is what are you actually getting as far as in perishables? When I go to the store, I carefully pick out my perishables to make sure that I am getting the freshest of the offerings. This goes for farmers markets and local stores. I look for blemishes, rotten areas, mold, if it’s hard to the touch. Or, even soft to the touch. Is someone else going to inspect like I do?
My son, Michael, was one of those people who would pick out the customers products. I love my son and he was a hard worker and very conscientious. However, I know there were days when he had so many orders to fill that he would be running behind. Did he carefully inspect the produce to make sure it was really fresh? Or, did he just run around trying to get his orders filled and just picking the first thing he touched? I’m thinking the latter, because if you are late then you get dinged for running behind.
Are all companies like this? I’m sure not. However, I don’t want to take a chance on something that I will be putting in my stomach. Plus, I like going to the farmer’s market and looking at all the produce. It’s fun and relaxing. And, I know what I am getting for my money and for my belly.
Until next time, happy creating.
