I must have pizza on the brain as my last blog post was on Cast Iron Pizza Potatoes. However, who doesn’t like pizza?! Well, I’m sure there are some, but not in this household. This recipe uses the same pizza dough I posted in Kitchen Smells like a Pizzeria! We like this technique of making pizza, as frying the dough in the olive oil gives it a decadent crispy fried taste. Yum!
I made this when Jack, Bianca, and Michael came to the house to watch the now infamous Ronda Rousey fight. They all wanted different pizza toppings so I decided to try and make it easier on myself. By cooking it in the cast iron, I was able to efficiently and easily make individual pizzas. This was instead of trying to fit 3 large pizza pans in the oven. Plus while one was cooking in the oven, people were able to start choosing their toppings to quickly put on their pizza once the dough was ready.
The cast iron fried pizzas were a resounding success, unlike the UFC fight for Ms. Rousey. All and all, we had a great time together with jaw dropping entertainment and really great pizza.
Until next time, happy creating.
Cast Iron Fried Pizza

I like to put a layer of cheese on top of the dough so that the pizza doesn’t become soggy. The times are not including if making your own dough or sauce.
Servings: (4) 12” pizzas
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time for Pizza: 20 minutes
Pizza Dough (if using my recipe, cut dough into 4 pieces and roll into a 12-inch round shape)
1 – 1 ½ cups of pizza sauce (depends on your taste)
8 tablespoons olive oil (about 2 tablespoons per 1 pizza in each pan)
8 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
8 ounces mozzarella, shredded
Toppings of your choice, such as pepperoni, sausage, black olives, onions, peppers, etc.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Heat a 12-inch cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil. Once oil is hot, carefully place one rolled out pizza circle in the skillet. Press down with a spatula so the dough fills the bottom of the skillet. Cook the dough for about 3 minutes or until the bottom is a golden color. Flip the dough over, slide skillet off heat, and top with some cheddar cheese. Add a ¼ cup of sauce and gently spread on top of the cheese (you can also melt the cheese on top of the dough first so the sauce is easier to spread). Add your toppings and then sprinkle a layer of mozzarella over the top.
Put the pizza in the oven and cook for about 8 minutes or until pizza is done and cheese is melted.
Slide the pizza out of the skillet and repeat if making more pizzas.
