30-Minute Spooky Mummy Pigs in a Blanket for Halloween

These spooky mummy pigs in a blanket are the easiest Halloween appetizer you’ll make this October. Crescent dough wraps around cocktail sausages like tiny bandages, with mustard or ketchup eyes, baking up golden and flaky in about 12 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 24 cocktail sausages or mini hot dogs
  • Mustard or ketchup for the eyes
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • Ketchup (for dipping, optional)
  • Honey mustard (for dipping, optional)
  • BBQ sauce (for dipping, optional)
  • Spicy ranch dressing (for dipping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. If using perforated triangles, press seams together to create one large rectangle. Let the dough sit for 2-3 minutes if too cold.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough lengthwise into thin strips about 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide.
  4. Take one cocktail sausage and wrap a strip of dough around it, leaving a small gap in the middle for the ‘face’. The dough should overlap slightly. Place each wrapped mummy on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  5. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a small bowl. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the tops of each mummy with melted butter.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the sausages are heated through. Start checking at 10 minutes.
  7. Let the mummies cool on the baking sheet for about 2 minutes. While still warm, use a toothpick to dab a tiny dot of mustard or ketchup onto the exposed sausage for the eyes.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

Keep dough cold for easier handling. Use a pizza cutter for clean strips. Don’t overbake—start checking at 10 minutes. Place eyes slightly off-center for more character. Can assemble up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate; add 2-3 minutes to baking time if starting from cold.
