My brother-in-law Mark asked why I couldn’t just cook the pork chops in the air fryer and make the chutney while they rested. I started to explain why that wouldn’t work—something about moisture loss and timing conflicts—then stopped. Honestly, I had no good reason. I just assumed the air fryer was for frozen fries and reheating pizza, not for turning out a dinner-party-worthy main course that would make people close their eyes after the first bite.

- Total Time: 30 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
- Category: Main Course
- Cuisine: American
Ingredients
- 4 thick-cut pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 apples, peeled and diced
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- Pinch of ground cloves
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Season the pork chops with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Drizzle with olive oil and rub to coat evenly.
- Place the pork chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 145°F/63°C).
- While the pork chops cook, make the chutney: In a small saucepan, combine diced apples, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Cook the chutney for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and the mixture has thickened slightly.
- Remove the pork chops from the air fryer and let them rest for 5 minutes.
- Serve the pork chops topped with the warm apple chutney.
Notes
For extra crispy pork chops, pat them dry with paper towels before seasoning. The chutney can be made ahead and reheated. Adjust sweetness to taste by adding more or less brown sugar.
