These mummy hot dogs with spider web ketchup are a fun, delicious Halloween treat that’s incredibly easy to make. Crescent roll dough wraps around juicy hot dogs, topped with mustard eyes and served with a smoky, creamy spider web ketchup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8-count) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 beef or turkey hot dogs
  • Mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • Non-stick cooking spray or melted butter (for brushing)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, mayonnaise, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag and set aside.
  3. Open the crescent roll package and unroll the dough. Separate into 8 triangles along perforated lines. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 long, thin strips (24 strips total).
  4. Place one hot dog at the wide end of a dough strip. Wrap the strip around the hot dog, overlapping slightly, leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and dough strips (3 strips per hot dog).
  5. Using a toothpick, dab two small dots of mustard onto the exposed hot dog area at the top of each mummy for eyes.
  6. Place wrapped mummies on prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart. Lightly brush tops with melted butter or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until dough is golden brown and hot dogs are heated through. Start checking at 12 minutes.
  8. Let mummies cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes. Pipe spider web ketchup on the plate or serving tray, or directly onto mummies. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, keep crescent roll dough cold while working. Don’t wrap dough too tightly—it needs room to expand. Assemble mummies up to 24 hours ahead (without butter wash) and refrigerate; add 2-3 minutes to baking time. For freezing, assemble and freeze before baking; bake from frozen, adding 5-7 minutes.
