A fun, slimy green punch that looks like a science experiment gone right, with cozy fall flavors from apple cider and warm spices. Perfect for Halloween parties or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups apple cider (unsweetened or lightly sweetened)
  • 2 cups lemon-lime soda (chilled, like Sprite or 7UP)
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup water (room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin (Knox brand recommended)
  • Green food coloring (gel-based preferred)
  • Neon yellow food coloring (optional, for glow effect)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (freshly grated or pre-ground)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Gummy worms (for garnish, optional)
  • Plastic spider rings (for garnish, optional)
  • Dry ice (for smoky effect, optional, use with caution)

Instructions

  1. Bloom the gelatin: Pour 1/2 cup room-temperature water into a small bowl. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin evenly over the surface. Let sit for 3-5 minutes until wobbly and translucent.
  2. Warm the base: In a small saucepan, warm 1 cup of apple cider over medium heat until steaming (do not boil). Remove from heat as soon as steam appears.
  3. Dissolve the gelatin: Pour warm cider into bloomed gelatin and whisk gently until completely dissolved and clear.
  4. Add color and spice: Stir in green food coloring drop by drop (about 10 drops) and neon yellow (about 3 drops) for electric slime look. Add cinnamon and nutmeg, whisk to combine.
  5. Combine everything: In a large punch bowl, pour remaining 3 cups apple cider, pineapple juice, and lemon-lime soda. Slowly pour in gelatin mixture while stirring gently.
  6. Chill and set: Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until syrupy but still pourable.
  7. Serve with flair: Ladle into cups, ensuring each serving gets slimy texture. Garnish with gummy worms, plastic spider rings, or dry ice (with caution).

Notes

Temperature is key: don’t add hot gelatin to cold soda or fizz will die. Stir gently to keep carbonation. For make-ahead, prepare gelatin mixture up to 24 hours in advance and warm slightly before combining. If punch becomes too thick, stir in extra soda. For vegetarian version, use 1 tablespoon agar agar powder dissolved in 1/4 cup hot water (texture will be firmer).
