A quick and easy Halloween snack board featuring a spider web design made with cream cheese dip, pretzel sticks, string cheese, and assorted snacks. Perfect for festive gatherings and cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large round wooden or slate board (12–16 inches diameter)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/4 cup black olives, sliced
  • Pretzel sticks
  • Thin string cheese sticks, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • Green or red seedless grapes, halved
  • Baby carrots, halved lengthwise
  • 8–10 large black olives, pitted
  • 8–10 small mozzarella balls, halved
  • Candy eyeballs
  • Assorted crackers
  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts (almonds and cashews)
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries or raisins
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips or M&Ms
  • Small cheese cubes (cheddar, gouda, or your favorite)
  • Sliced salami or pepperoni, folded into triangles

Instructions

  1. Make the cream cheese dip: In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning mix. Stir until smooth and fully incorporated. Taste and add a pinch of black pepper if needed. Set aside.
  2. Prep your board: Place your round board on a flat surface. Optionally, put a piece of parchment paper underneath to catch drips.
  3. Create the web center: Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center of the board. Use a rubber spatula to spread it into a rough circle about 6 inches in diameter. Leave a little dip in the center for the spiders.
  4. Add the web spokes: Arrange pretzel sticks like spokes on a wheel, radiating outward from the cream cheese circle. Start with 8 spokes evenly spaced. Press the ends gently into the cream cheese to hold them in place.
  5. Build the web rings: Take string cheese pieces and lay them across the pretzel spokes, starting about 1 inch from the cream cheese center. Place a piece of string cheese between each pair of spokes, creating a ring. Repeat every 1.5 inches as you move outward, until you reach the edge of the board (3-4 rings total). Press each piece gently into the pretzel spokes.
  6. Add the spiders: For each spider, take one large black olive (body) and one halved mozzarella ball (head). Place the olive on the cream cheese dip, then put the mozzarella half next to it. Stick two candy eyeballs on the mozzarella using a tiny dab of cream cheese as glue. For legs, use thin slices of black olive or small pretzel stick pieces. Make 4-5 spiders scattered around the web.
  7. Fill the web sections: Fill each section of the web (between the spokes and rings) with your chosen snacks. In one section, pile crackers. In another, add cheese cubes. Next, nuts. Then dried cranberries. Then chocolate chips. Then salami triangles. Mix up colors and textures for visual balance.
  8. Final touches: Scatter a few extra candy eyeballs around the board. Add a few whole grapes or berries for pops of color. Step back and adjust if any section looks empty.

Notes

Assemble the board no more than 2 hours before serving to keep pretzels crisp. The cream cheese dip can be made up to 24 hours in advance. For dairy-free, use vegan cream cheese and sour cream. For gluten-free, use gluten-free pretzels and crackers. The charm is in the imperfection—don’t stress about symmetry.
