Adorable mummy-shaped pigs in a blanket made with crescent roll dough and little smokies, served with a creamy mustard dip. A fun, easy, and delicious snack perfect for Halloween or cozy nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 24 mini smoked sausages or little smokies
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon whole-grain mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean cutting board. Press the perforations together gently with your fingers to seal them into one large rectangle.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough lengthwise into about 24 thin strips, about 1/2-inch wide.
  4. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around a little smoked sausage, leaving a small gap near the top for the ‘face.’ Don’t wrap too tightly.
  5. Place the wrapped mummies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. In a small bowl, beat the egg with a tablespoon of water. Brush each mummy lightly with the egg wash. If using, sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. While they bake, make the dip: In a small bowl, combine sour cream, Dijon mustard, whole-grain mustard, honey, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  9. Once the mummies come out of the oven, let them cool for 2-3 minutes. Using a toothpick or small piping bag, dab two tiny dots of mustard on the exposed sausage at the top of each mummy for eyes.
  10. Serve warm with the mustard dip.

Notes

Don’t over-wrap the sausages; leave room for the dough to puff. Use cold dough if your kitchen is warm. Make the dip while the oven preheats. Let mummies cool slightly before adding mustard eyes to prevent running.
