This easy slow cooker peppermint white hot chocolate is rich, creamy, and perfect for cozy nights. Just dump the ingredients in the slow cooker and let it work its magic for a velvety, minty treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (12 ounces) white chocolate chips
  • 4 cups (32 ounces) whole milk
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • A tiny pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, crushed candy canes, white chocolate shavings, peppermint sticks

Instructions

  1. Combine the base ingredients: Pour the 4 cups of whole milk and 1 cup of heavy cream into your slow cooker. Add the 2 cups of white chocolate chips and the tiny pinch of salt. Do not stir yet.
  2. Set the temperature: Cover the slow cooker and set it to LOW. Let it cook for 1 hour without lifting the lid.
  3. Whisk it smooth: After an hour, remove the lid and whisk everything together until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform.
  4. Add the flavors: Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract. Taste and add more peppermint extract if desired (up to 1/4 teaspoon more).
  5. Keep warm: Cover again and let it cook on LOW for another 30 minutes. If serving later, switch to the WARM setting and hold for up to 3 hours.
  6. Serve and garnish: Ladle the hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream and crushed candy canes. Add a peppermint stick for stirring if desired.

Notes

White chocolate is delicate; always use LOW heat to avoid graininess. Peppermint extract strength varies; start with 1 teaspoon and adjust to taste. If the hot chocolate separates after sitting, whisk it back together. For a dairy-free version, use full-fat oat milk and dairy-free white chocolate chips.
