A quick and easy copycat recipe for a brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso that recreates the beloved coffee shop drink at home. With simple ingredients and a special shaking technique, this drink delivers a creamy, sweet, and bold flavor perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots espresso (about 2 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup cold oat milk
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of cinnamon (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots of espresso (about 2 ounces total). If using a moka pot, fill the bottom chamber with water just below the valve, add finely ground coffee to the filter basket without packing it down, and brew over medium heat until you hear a gurgling sound. Remove from heat immediately.
  2. In a cocktail shaker or mason jar, add the 2 tablespoons of packed brown sugar. Pour the hot espresso directly over the sugar. Stir gently with a spoon until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Add the 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract if using. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds until the mixture is frothy and slightly lighter in color.
  4. Fill a tall glass with 1 cup of large ice cubes.
  5. Pour the shaken espresso mixture over the ice. Do not stir yet.
  6. Slowly pour 3/4 cup of cold oat milk over the back of a spoon into the glass to create layers. Stir gently if desired.
  7. Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top. Serve immediately with a straw or stir stick.

Notes

Always dissolve brown sugar in hot espresso before adding ice to avoid grittiness. Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds to create foam. Use large ice cubes to slow dilution. For a party, set up a shaken espresso station and let guests shake their own.
