Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces brie cheese
  • 6 ounces sharp cheddar, sliced
  • 4 ounces goat cheese log
  • 4 ounces prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces salami, sliced (Genoa salami recommended)
  • 1/2 cup fig jam
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 cup fresh figs, halved (or dried figs or apple slices)
  • 1 apple (Honeycrisp or Fuji), sliced
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, toasted
  • 1 cup crackers or crostini
  • 1/4 cup olives (kalamata or castelvetrano)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs
  • Optional: cornichons or pickled onions

Instructions

  1. Start with the bowls: Place the fig jam and honey in small bowls on the board, positioned slightly off-center.
  2. Add the cheeses: Place the brie whole on the board. Slice the cheddar into thin triangles and fan them out. Crumble or slice the goat cheese into rounds. Space cheeses evenly across the board.
  3. Layer the meats: Fold prosciutto slices into loose ribbons and place in a pile. Fan out salami slices in a separate spot. Place meats near the edges.
  4. Fill in with fruits: Halve fresh figs and arrange in a small cluster. Slice the apple and fan slices near the cheddar. If using dried figs, place in a small pile.
  5. Add the crunch: Scatter toasted nuts in small piles around the board. Place crackers or crostini in a separate section, near the brie and cheddar.
  6. Finish with savory touches: Add olives in a small cluster. Tuck rosemary or thyme sprigs around the board. If using cornichons, place near the salami.
  7. Drizzle the honey: Just before serving, warm the honey slightly (10 seconds in the microwave) and drizzle over the brie and figs.

Notes

Let brie and goat cheese sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before serving for best texture. Warm honey for 10 seconds in the microwave for easy drizzling. Toast nuts in a dry pan for 3-4 minutes to enhance flavor. Toss apple slices in lemon juice to prevent browning. Board can be assembled up to 2 hours ahead (without honey drizzle); add honey just before serving.
