These festive Christmas Jello shots with sprinkles are ridiculously easy to make with just five ingredients and about 20 minutes of active prep time. The red and green layers with crunchy sprinkles on top look like tiny edible holiday ornaments, making them the perfect crowd-pleaser for any Christmas party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (3 oz) cherry or strawberry Jell-O
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold vodka
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 box (3 oz) lime Jell-O
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold vodka
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup holiday sprinkles (red, green, white, and gold mix)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Boil 1 cup of water. Pour the cherry Jell-O powder into a small bowl and add the boiling water. Stir for about 2 minutes until the powder is completely dissolved.
  2. Add 1/2 cup cold vodka and 1/2 cup cold water to the cherry mixture. Stir until everything is combined.
  3. Arrange plastic shot cups on a baking sheet. Pour the red Jell-O mixture into each cup, filling them about one-third of the way.
  4. Refrigerate the red layer for about 1 hour until firm but still slightly jiggly.
  5. While the red layer sets, make the lime Jell-O mixture: boil 1 cup of water, stir in the lime powder until dissolved, then add 1/2 cup cold vodka and 1/2 cup cold water. Let sit at room temperature.
  6. Once the red layer is set, carefully pour the lime mixture over the red layer, filling each cup about two-thirds full.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, until the green layer is fully set.
  8. Once both layers are set, add about 1/2 teaspoon of sprinkles to the top of each cup in a thin, even layer.
  9. Chill for another 30 minutes after adding sprinkles. Serve cold, optionally with a dollop of whipped cream on top.

Notes

Use mid-range vodka for best flavor; cheap vodka leaves a harsh aftertaste. Let each layer set completely before adding the next to prevent colors from bleeding. Use room temperature vodka to avoid premature setting. Sprinkles add essential crunch; avoid nonpareils as they bleed color. Make ahead: prepare layers the night before, add sprinkles just before serving. For non-alcoholic version, replace vodka with equal amount cold water or ginger ale.
