A quick and easy one-pan meal featuring flaky salmon and tender-crisp asparagus coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic glaze. Perfect for busy weeknights, this dish comes together in under 30 minutes with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Make the honey garlic sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, low-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the asparagus: Rinse the asparagus and snap off the woody ends. Pat dry with a paper towel. Place on one side of the prepared sheet pan. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, season with a pinch of salt and pepper, and toss gently to coat.
  4. Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them skin-side down on the other side of the sheet pan, leaving space between each piece. Drizzle with the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  5. Brush on the sauce: Using a basting brush or the back of a spoon, spread about half of the honey garlic sauce over the salmon fillets. Reserve the rest for later.
  6. Roast for 12-15 minutes. At the 10-minute mark, brush the remaining sauce over the salmon. The asparagus should be tender-crisp and the salmon should flake easily with a fork. If using a thermometer, look for 125°F in the thickest part of the fillet.
  7. Optional broil for extra caramelization: Switch the oven to broil for the last 1-2 minutes. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  8. Rest and serve: Let the salmon rest for 2-3 minutes on the pan. Serve immediately with the roasted asparagus on the side.

Notes

Pat the salmon dry for a better caramelized exterior. Reserve half the sauce to brush on at the end to prevent burning. Let the salmon rest for 2-3 minutes before serving. For a gluten-free version, use tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
