This quick and easy blender eggnog recipe delivers a silky, frothy, and perfectly spiced holiday drink in under 10 minutes. Made with simple ingredients and a mid-range bourbon, it’s a crowd-pleaser that proves simple can be spectacular.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup bourbon (e.g., Maker’s Mark or Buffalo Trace)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Pinch of salt
  • Freshly grated nutmeg for garnish (optional)
  • Cinnamon sticks for stirring (optional)
  • Whipped cream for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the eggs and sugar: Crack the 6 eggs into your blender pitcher. Add the 3/4 cup of granulated sugar. Pulse a few times until the mixture is pale and slightly frothy, about 15 seconds.
  2. Add the dairy and bourbon: Pour in the 2 cups of whole milk, 1 cup of heavy cream, and 1 cup of bourbon. Add the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  3. Add the spices: Sprinkle in the 1 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Blend until smooth: Put the lid on your blender and start on low speed, then gradually increase to high. Let it run for 30 to 45 seconds until the mixture is uniform, creamy, and has a light froth on top.
  5. Strain (optional but worth it): Place a fine-mesh strainer over a large pitcher or bowl. Pour the blended eggnog through the strainer to catch any bits of egg or spice clumps. Press on the solids with a spatula to extract every last drop.
  6. Chill thoroughly: Cover the pitcher or bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, but overnight is better. The flavors meld and mellow as it sits.
  7. Stir and serve: Before serving, give the eggnog a good stir. Pour into small glasses or mugs. Top with whipped cream if desired, and grate fresh nutmeg over the top. Add a cinnamon stick for stirring.

Notes

Use fresh nutmeg for the best flavor. Let the eggnog rest overnight for the flavors to meld. Taste and adjust sweetness or spices after blending. Keep the eggnog very cold before serving. For a non-alcoholic version, omit the bourbon and add an extra cup of milk or a splash of vanilla extract. For a dairy-free version, use full-fat oat milk and coconut cream.
