How to Make the Best Holiday Charcuterie Board (Easy & Cozy)

This isn’t just another appetizer; it’s the centerpiece of your cozy holiday gathering. After years of trial and error, I’ve perfected a board that is as stress-free as it is stunning, coming together in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Sharp Cheddar (8 oz)
  • Brie or Camembert (8 oz)
  • Goat Cheese Log (4 oz)
  • Prosciutto (4 oz)
  • Salami (4 oz)
  • Fresh Rosemary (2-3 large sprigs)
  • Pomegranate Seeds (¼ cup)
  • Assorted Crackers (about 20)
  • Fig Jam or Honey (¼ cup)
  • Mixed Nuts (½ cup)
  • Fresh Fruit (1 cup)
  • Cornichons or Olives (¼ cup)

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Cheese (5 minutes): Remove your cheeses from the fridge about 20 minutes before you start. Slice the sharp cheddar into thin triangles or cubes. Leave the brie wheel whole, but score the top rind in a crosshatch pattern. Place the goat cheese log on a small plate.
  2. Make the Rosemary Christmas Trees (5 minutes): Rinse and dry the rosemary sprigs. Trim the bottom flat, then trim the needles into a triangular tree shape. Press pomegranate seeds into the needles. Set aside.
  3. Arrange the Bowls (2 minutes): Place small bowls onto the board first, distributing them evenly.
  4. Place the Cheeses (3 minutes): Put cheeses in different areas of the board.
  5. Add the Meats (3 minutes): Fold prosciutto into ribbons and place near brie. Roll salami slices and place near cheddar.
  6. Fill the Gaps with Accompaniments (5 minutes): Scatter crackers in clusters, add fruit in bunches, sprinkle nuts, and place cornichons near salami.
  7. Place the Rosemary Trees (1 minute): Gently place rosemary trees in prominent spots on the board.
  8. Garnish and Serve (1 minute): Add extra pomegranate seeds, set out cheese knives, and serve immediately.

Notes

Let cheese come to room temperature for best flavor. Rosemary trees can be made a day ahead and stored in fridge in damp paper towel. If rosemary is too thin, use thick woody stems. For a vegetarian option, swap prosciutto for roasted red peppers.
