Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225g) goat cheese, softened
  • 3 tablespoons (45ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1–2 tablespoons (15-30ml) milk or cream
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) balsamic glaze
  • 4 oz (115g) prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz (115g) salami, sliced
  • 4 oz (115g) sharp cheddar cheese, cubed
  • 1 cup (150g) mixed nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts)
  • 1 cup (150g) dried cranberries or cherries
  • 1 cup (150g) seedless grapes, red or green
  • 1 cup (150g) apple slices
  • 1 cup (150g) fig or rosemary crackers
  • 1/2 cup (75g) dark chocolate chips or pieces
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish
  • Edible flowers for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the goat cheese dip: In a small bowl, combine softened goat cheese, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Mix with a spatula until smooth and creamy. If too thick, add milk or cream one tablespoon at a time until spreadable. Transfer to serving bowl and smooth the top.
  2. Create the spiderweb design: Pour balsamic glaze into a piping bag or zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off. Pipe concentric circles on the dip, starting from the center and working outward. Use a toothpick to drag lines from the center outward, creating a web pattern. Wipe toothpick clean between lines.
  3. Prepare the board: Place the bowl of dip in the center of a large wooden board or platter. Arrange larger items first: cubed cheddar and prosciutto folded into ribbons or rosettes. Fan salami slices near the prosciutto.
  4. Add fruits and nuts: Scatter mixed nuts around the board, filling gaps. Add dried cranberries or cherries in small piles. Place grapes in clusters and fan apple slices near the edge.
  5. Fill in with crackers and chocolate: Arrange crackers in a circular pattern around the dip bowl. Sprinkle dark chocolate pieces in remaining spaces.
  6. Garnish and serve: Tuck fresh rosemary sprigs around the board and scatter edible flowers if using. Serve immediately at room temperature.

Notes

Bring goat cheese to room temperature for easier mixing. Practice spiderweb design on a plate first. Assemble board no more than 2 hours before serving. The dip can be made up to 2 days ahead and refrigerated.
