This spooky-season dip features creamy, spicy Buffalo chicken topped with a melted mozzarella spider web. It’s a quick and easy crowd-pleaser perfect for Halloween parties or game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works great)
  • 1/2 cup Buffalo wing sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (reserved for piping the web)
  • Black olives, sliced (optional, for spiders)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, Buffalo wing sauce, and ranch dressing. Use a hand mixer on medium speed to blend until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes.
  3. Fold in 1 cup shredded cheddar and 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella using a rubber spatula until evenly distributed.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish. Spread into an even layer.
  5. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until hot and bubbly around the edges. The center should be set but still slightly jiggly.
  6. While the dip bakes, prepare the spider web: Place the reserved 1/2 cup mozzarella in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring between, until melted and stretchy (about 30-45 seconds total).
  7. Spoon the melted mozzarella into a piping bag or zip-top bag. Snip a tiny corner off the bag. Starting from the center of the hot dip, pipe a small circle, then larger concentric circles to create about 4-5 circles.
  8. Use a toothpick or knife tip to drag lines from the center outward, creating a web effect. Wipe the toothpick clean between each line.
  9. Place sliced black olives on the web to resemble spiders (optional).
  10. Serve immediately with chips, crackers, or veggie sticks.

Notes

For best results, ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps. Pipe the spider web while the dip is hot so the cheese stays pliable. If the melted mozzarella hardens before piping, microwave for 5-10 seconds to soften. Use a light hand when piping for a thin, elegant web. This dip can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance (without the web) and refrigerated; bake just before serving.
