This homemade Baileys Irish Cream is a cheaper, better-tasting alternative to store-bought. It comes together in under 10 minutes with simple ingredients and is perfect for gifting during the holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ¾ cups Irish whiskey (like Jameson or Bushmills)
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 ¼ cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules (dissolved in 2 tablespoons hot water, then cooled)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure)
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the instant coffee in 2 tablespoons of hot water in a small bowl. Stir until completely dissolved, then set aside to cool completely (about 10 minutes).
  2. Add the heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk to your blender. Blend on low speed for about 30 seconds until well combined.
  3. Pour in the Irish whiskey and blend on low for another 15 seconds.
  4. Add the cooled coffee mixture, chocolate syrup, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and salt. Blend on low for 20-30 seconds until fully incorporated.
  5. Taste and adjust. Add more chocolate syrup, vanilla, or salt as desired.
  6. Transfer to bottles using a funnel. Fill each bottle to about an inch from the top.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

The coffee must be completely cool to prevent curdling. Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Shake before every use as separation is normal. The liqueur improves after a day or two in the fridge. For gifting, include a note to keep refrigerated and shake before serving.
